Why Waxing? Part 1

Waxing is a form of depilation, whereby unwanted hair is eliminated by applying a thin layer of warm wax to the area. A special type of “waxing” strip is then applied to the area and removed, taking the hair out from the root. I then massage in a soothing cream to calm and nourish the skin.

The type of wax that I use, also known as strip wax, contains azulene, for sensitive skin. Azulene is a derivative of chamomile, known for it’s calming and soothing properties. This way I make sure that the hair is completely removed with the minimum effect on the skin.

Men and women, from about the age of 13, can have unwanted hair removed by waxing. If it is your first time waxing, there is nothing to fear. If you are nervous about how uncomfortable waxing can be, take a mild painkiller before your treatment. this can help to take the edge off. I will also do a small patch test on the area that you want to have waxed, so that you can see and feel exactly what waxing will be like. You will discover that most of the horror stories you may have heard about waxing are completely overrated or just untrue.

Waxing removes hair from the root, so your “regrowth” hair will be finer and take longer to grow, after just a few treatments. I have noticed amazing results in the reduction of hair growth on the upper lip and under the arm in a relatively short space of time. Personally, I have been having waxes for years and I find that my hair growth has thinned out so much that my hair doesn’t start growing until about a quarter of the way up my calve. Perfect for always being able to wear 3/4 pants!

That’s my little story for today. Watch out for part 2 on waxing, coming soon, to find out even more about this time and money saving treatment. Book your appointment now with Carmelle at Jasmine & Ginger beauty salon on 082 2585811 or e-mail carmelle@jasmineginger.co.za
